Rochester Meat Company Receives Safety Award December 15th, 2008 Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Steve Swiggum presented the MNSHARP award to Rochester Meat Company at the Minnesota Safety and Health Conference during the Governor’s Safety Awards Luncheon on May 16, 2008. Through MNSHARP (Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program), the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry and Minnesota OSHA recognizes Minnesota employers who have achieved and maintained excellence in workplace safety and health. Rochester Meat Company has been a MNSHARP participant since November 15, 2000 and was the first meat processing company in Minnesota to achieve MNSHARP certification. To maintain its status as a MNSHARP employer, Rochester Meat Company works closely with Minnesota OSHA’s Workplace Safety Consultation unit. Representatives from Workplace Safety Consultation periodically conduct a worksite visit to review the key elements of the company’s safety program including: Management leadership and employee involvement; allocation of resources to address safety issues; systems that identify and control workplace hazards; and the company’s employee safety training and education program.
